GESIOP - Health management from an inter-organizational perspective through the involvement of customers and cooperation partners (BMBF funded)

  • Project description:

The collaborative project GESIOP ('Health Management from an Inter-Organizational Perspective') is embedded in the program 'Future of Work' funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). 'Future of Work', and as part of it GESIOP, address issues such as the effect of diversified working conditions on working structures (flexibility, digitization, etc.), or the balance of employers’ and employees’ interests.

  • GESIOP - the project of TUM and CAU:

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a well-established concept in business strategy, communication and organizational development. In addition, occupational health management activities (OHM) that go beyond mere business compliance have increasingly become the focus of corporate (and public) attention in recent years. Both concepts can mutually benefit from each other and establish sustainable business practices. Until now, the interplay of both concepts and their beneficial effects have not been studied in theory nor in the business case.

This interface, in particular, is the focus of the subproject "Development of concepts and strategies for the integration of occupational health management and corporate social responsibility (CSR)", which is supervised by the University of Kiel (CAU) and the technical University of Munich (TUM). The project aims to shed light on the relationship between BGM and CSR from a health and business ethics perspective and develop practice-oriented tools. In addition, the project provides a comprehensive analysis of all actors involved, taking into account not only companies, institutions, associations, and actors along the value chain, but also customers and their purchasing behavior.

  • News:

The second comprehensive qualitative multi-stakeholder interview study was completed in August 2018. It focused on ethical aspects of workplace health management. In 29 interviews, numerous ethical issues were addressed like which actors should be responsible for workplace health promotion, who should be allowed to handle what type of employee health data, and if there should be an institutionalized label for good WHP activities. The interview results will presumably be published in the first quarter of 2019.
