Consumer Roles in Collaborative Consumption (Rococo)

  • Project description:

For some years, new collaborative forms of consumption and production have experienced considerable growth. people take both the consumer and the supplier role: they provide sleeping accommodations, sell used baby clothes, or use carpools without further ado. How do those patterns of behavior, in which consumers contribute significantly to value creation fit into the image of the traditional consumer role? Forecasts show that traditional customer images are increasingly supplemented by collaborative consumption and co-production activities. It is barely possible to speak of the classic supplier-consumer dualism. The project 'Consumer Roles in Collaborative Consumption' (‚Verbraucherrollen im kollaborativen Konsum‘) (Rococo), funded by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (Bundesministerium für Justiz und Verbraucherschutz), investigates the motives, attitudes and actions of the group of collaborative consumers on a qualitative as well as quantitative level and integrates them into a superordinate consumer model.
